U.S. Muslims to Release Open Letter to Obama

Islamic groups to outline suggested policy priorities for new administration
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/26/2008) - On Monday, December 29, the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections (AMT), a coalition of 11 major Islamic organizations, will hold a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to release an open letter to President-elect Obama outlining suggested domestic and foreign policy priorities for the new administration.

The mission of the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections is to ensure that American Muslims become full partners in the development and prosperity of the United States, to defend the civil and human rights of all and to build alliances with like-minded fellow citizens on a wide variety of social, political, economic, and moral issues.
AMT is an umbrella organization that includes: American Muslim Alliance (AMA), American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA), Muslim American Society-Freedom Foundation (MAS-FF), Muslim Student Association-National (MSA-N), Muslim Ummah of North America (MUNA), and United Muslims of America (UMA). Its observer organizations include: Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), and Islamic Educational Center of Orange County (IEC).
